Frears to helm 'Bengali Detective'
FrearsBrit helmer Stephen Frears and scribe D.V. DeVincentis, who formerly teamed on "High Fidelity" and "Lay the favourite,Inch are going to interact once more, because the duo are going to correspondingly direct and write Fox Searchlight's British-language feature adaptation of documentary "The Bengali Detective."Philip Cox directed the initial. Native Voice Films' docu adopted smart private agent Rajesh Ji because he explores Calcutta's criminal underworld while going after his dream to bop on Indian TV. Film required a glance at modern India with the eyes of the unlikely hero.Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free banner will produce. Fox Searchlight executives Zola Mashariki and Richard Gold will oversee development for that studio.Frears, that has Oscar nominations for pointing "The Full" and "The Grifters," last directed the Gemma Arterton starrer "Tamara Drewe."DeVincentis, who co-authored and made an appearance within the 1997 comedy "Grosse Pointe Blank" with John Cusack, lately modified Bob Powers' novel "You're a Miserable Excuse for any Hero" for producer Mark Gordon.Frears is repped by ICM, while UTA and Management 360 repetition DeVincentis.
